Meet Rosalita

Rosalita, aka Rosie, is my 2024 Winnebago Ekko 22A built on a Ford Transit AWD chassis. She is powered by the Ford 3.5L EcoBoost V6 gasoline engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rosie is an absolute dream to drive and full of safety features and technology in the cab.

Rosie is 23 feet in length and 10’6” in height with a weight of about 15,000 lbs fully loaded. She is about the size of a full-size van but is technically a Class C motorhome. Inside my home on wheels are two twin beds, full bathroom, a full galley, air conditioning, entertainment system, and dining area. On the outside is a huge gear garage in the rear, a side storage bay, and two awnings including a “batwing” awning that wraps around the rear. Electrically Rosie is well-equipped with 640Ah of lithium battery storage, a 2,800W gas generator, 455W of solar on the roof, and a second alternator under the hood to charge my batteries.

I placed an order for my Ekko with Colonial RV in Millstone Township, NJ back in April 2023 and was originally told it would be a year wait. However, Rosie arrived early in November and I picked her up in New Jersey on November 29, 2023. Special thanks to my salesperson, Bobby, and all the great folks at Colonial RV. I had a fantastic experience and love my Ekko!

After taking delivery of my Ekko, I headed south on the New Jersey turnpike to a KOA campground to test out all the systems and get familiar with my new motorhome. All the systems worked great and after a quick stop back at Colonial RV for some minor tweaks and a detail, we headed home to New England. Rosie has spent the winter indoors in a storage facility nearby, but we are both ready to hit the open road as soon as spring has sprung in New England.

So why “Rosalita” you might ask. In the early 1980s I was flipping through the TV channels when I discovered a concert airing on PBS. It turns out this was a rebroadcast of the legendary 1979 No Nukes concert from Madison Square Garden. The artist on stage was Bruce Springsteen and he was performing Rosalita (Come Out Tonight). That chance encounter launched a life-long love for “The Boss” and his music has become the soundtrack of my life. Rosalita seemed to be a fitting name: a first love and she’s a Jersey girl!
